Emarat Takes Part in “Earth Hour”
In Solidarity with the Earth Protection Campaign
Emirates General Petroleum Corporation “Emarat”, shut down the lights at many of its service stations in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, for a full hour on last Saturday’s evening. This action came in line with the Corporation’s commitment to the “Earth Hour” campaign, aiming to tackle the environmental changes and global warming challenges on our planet.

Mr. Hussain Kazim Manager, Corporate Communications at Emarat, said that the “Earth Hour” campaign is a global event that sheds light on what people can do, all over the world, to face the effects and damages caused by climate changes. The campaign highlights the role of individuals, communities, companies and governments in fighting the threat of the planet’s increasing temperature.

Mr. Kazim added that Emarat’s symbolic participation in this campaign, which is considered the world’s biggest voluntary movement aiming to limit energy consumption, is a part of the UAE’s governmental and private institutions commitment to this issue, and it also expresses Emarat concern about climate change and its endeavors to support global efforts that aim to face this disturbing phenomena.

Earth Hour is a campaign that was developed by the International Fund for Nature Preservation and the fight against global warming. This campaign became a global movement ever since it was launched in Sydney, Australia, in 2007, when millions participated and shut down their unnecessary lights in order to preserve the environment.
